Battlestar Galactica Mini-Series Part 1a

The opening scene starts with a ship docking at the remote space station, then the camera switches to an officer walking down a long hallway, proceeding to a desk and chair located near the center. The officer takes a few files from his briefcase and starts looking at a schematic of one of the Cylon models, from forty years ago. All of a sudden the giant double doors open at the end of the hall and two mechanical Cylons enter, positioning themselves, one on each side of the door, as if to signal that someone important will be entering behind them. The startled officer looks on, as a beautiful woman enters and proceeds to walk down the long hallway to meet him at his desk. She, seductively, sits on the table in front of him and asks, "Are you alive?", bewildered he answers, "Yes". She then says "Prove it.", while kissing him on the lips.

Suddenly the station is fired upon and the officer struggles to get away from the woman, she then says, "It has begun!" The camera then zooms out and you see that the station is completely destroyed.

New Scene:
The camera zooms past a huge asteroid, that looks as though parts of it have been blown away, then continues through the vastness of space, until we see the Battlestar Galactica, an aging, but formidable colonial battleship. Aboard the ship, people are going on about their lives, unknowing that the Armistice Station had been destroyed. A young, athletic looking woman, is jogging down the corridor for the purpose of exercise. She approaches a group of people being lead by a museum guide and maneuvers through them. It seems as though the Galactica is being decommissioned and turned into a museum, so there are a lot of tourists onboard. The guide explains that the Galactica is the only one left of her kind, being that she was constructed over 50 years ago, during the early days of the Cylon War. He continues to say that originally there were 12 battlestars, each one representing one of Kobol's 12 colonies and that Galactica represents the planet, Caprica.

New Scene:
The attention then switches to Commander Adama, who is walking down the corridor, memorizing a speech that he is going to give later during the decommissioning ceremony. Soldiers are saluting him as they pass by, then around the corner, comes the young woman that was jogging earlier. She says good morning to the commander and he returns the greeting, using her call sign "Morning, Starbuck. What do you hear? " She replies, "Nothing but the rain." They exchange pleasantries and she continues to jog past him. The commander then meets three engineers, who after saluting, complain about all of the tourists. "This is supposed to be a battlestar, not a museum!", they exclaim. The commander says that he couldn't agree more, then continues to the control center of the battleship. He talks to one of the officers, who tells him about the COM traffic, stating there wasn't much interesting going on, except there was one odd message from fleet headquarters, specifically, career officers coming back from the Armistice Station, are long over due. The commander says, "I think we are a little bit busy today, wouldn't you say, lieutenant?"

New Scene:
Next we see Colonel Tigh walking toward the control center and the museum guide walks by with his group. The guide tells the tourists that you'll notice something odd, most notably the computers are so antiquated that they barely deserve the name. He tells them that it was all designed to operate against an enemy that could infiltrate and disrupt, even the most basic computer systems. He exclaims, that Galactica is an example of when we were so frightened of our enemies that we looked backward for protection.

New Scene:
The commander is down in the hangar bay and meets the chief engineer, Tyrol. Tyrol leads the commander over to a covered object, that when uncovered a surprise awaits. The commander smiles from ear to ear and seems to be quite pleased. It is an old model, Mark II fighter and the commander says he hasn't seen one in over 20 years. Moreover, it turns out, that this fighter is the very same, "Nebula 7242, Constellation", that the commander flew so many years, ago. He exclaims, "Oh my god, where did you find her?" The chief says, "rusted out in a salvage yard at Sagitarian". He then says that they had hoped that the commander would allow her to participate in the decommissioning ceremony. The chief says that they repaired it and that it was fueled, armed, and ready for launch. Of course, the commander agrees to the request.

New Scene:
Colonel Tigh pours himself a drink and heads over to a table, where some of the crew are playing a game of cards. During the game, Tigh and Starbuck engage in an argument, during which he jumps up and tips the table over, then Starbuck slugs him, while the rest of the crew try to stop the fight. The colonel says, "You have finally gone too far and now your done. Lieutenant, consider yourself under arrest, pending charges. Report to the brig!" She does as she was ordered to do and the scene switches to the commanders quarters where he and the colonel are having a conversation. The commander asks, "Are you really going to press charges against Kara?" The colonel replies, "For striking a superior officer? You're damn right I am!" The commander says, "I heard you started the day off pretty early.", implying that he started drinking pretty early. The colonel replies, "I wasn't on duty". After a little small talk, the commander asks, "I couldn't talk you out of it, could I?". The colonel replies, "Not a chance, she is insubordinate, undisciplined....". The commander interrupts, "She's probably one of the finest fighter pilots, I have ever seen in my life..." After some small discussion, the commander says, "Listen, I am not going to defend what she did.........but you did tip over the table first." The colonel replies, "I did not.....<thinking about it>...unless I did?" The commander says, "You did, so what do you say, we just drop the formal charges, throw her in the brig, let her cool her heals off, until we get home." The colonel replies, "You always did have a soft spot for her." The commander replies, "Yeah, I guess I am just a crazy old man."
