Battlestar Galactica Mini-Series Part 1d

Apollo replies, "Well, I don't have anything to say! My orders said to report here and participate in the ceremony, so I am here and I am going to participate, there wasn't anything in my orders about having heart to heart chats with my old man." The commander sadly answers, "Accidents happen, in the service." Apollo answers, "Dad, listen ....I" The commander interrupts and says, "In all the things that you..." The both are talking at the same time, now, but finally the confusion is broken up by Apollo exclaiming, "I really don't want to do this!" The commander says, "It still rings in my ears, after two years." Apollo yells, "Good! Because you know what? It was meant to!" The commander says, "Zak had a choice, you both did." Apollo yells, "A man isn't a man, until he wears the wings of a viper pilot ....Doesn't that at all seem familiar to you?" Apollo is clearly blaming his father for his brother's death. The commander replies, "That's not fair son." The discussion leads to Apollo informing his dad that Zak was not cut out to wear the uniform and insinuates that the commander was responsible for pulling strings to get Zak a passing grade, even though he should have failed flight training. The commander exclaims that it wasn't true, that he did nothing for Zak, that he wouldn't have done for anyone else. The quarrel ends with Apollo blaming his dad for killing Zak and then the commander sighs and merely says, "That will be all, captain." They both look hurt and Apollo slowly turns and leaves.

New Scene:
Back on Caprica, in Dr. Baltar's room, the doctor is coming to grips with what the cylon woman had told him. "So now your telling me, you're a machine?", Dr. Baltar asks, in a dumbfounded state of mind. She replies, "I'm a woman" he argues, "You're a machine, you're a synthetic woman, a robot." While annoyed, she replies, "I have said it three times." Dr. Baltar interrupts saying, "Well forgive me for being a bit skeptical, because the last time anyone seen a Cylon, they looked more like walking chrome toasters." She replies, "Those models are still around, they have their uses." He replies, "Prove it... that you're a cylon, prove it." She replies, "I don't have to. You know I am telling the truth." They argue back and forth and the Cylon says, "You have always known there was something different about me, something that didn't quite add up in the usual way and you believe me, because it flatters your ego to believe that you alone, of all the billions of people on the 12 colonies, were chosen for my mission."

After a few pauses and showing that the doctor is very distressed, the cylon woman says, "You knew I wanted access to the defense main-frame." The doctor is shocked and stutters, "Wait a minute, th...the defense main-frame? What exactly are you saying?" She replies, "Come on, Gaius. The communication frequencies, deployment schedules, unlimited access to every database..." The doctor with a horrified look interrupts, "OMG....." he tries to reason with himself and says, "I had nothing to do with this.....You know I had noting to do with this." The Cylon woman quips, "You have an amazing capacity for self deception....How do you do that?" The doctor asks, "How many people know? About me? Specifically, that I am involved?" While enjoying the doctor squirming, she replies, "Even now, as the fate of your entire world hangs in the balance, all you can think about is how this affects you." The doctor even more horrified explains, "Do you have any idea what they will do to me if they find out". She replies, "They would probably charge you with treason..." The doctor interrupts, "Treason is punishable by the death penalty!" The doctor being frantic, says "This is unbelievable" and the Cylon woman asks, "What are you doing?" He replies, "I am calling my attorney" to which she replies, "That won't be necessary, because in a few hours, no one will be left to charge you with anything." The doctor hangs up his phone and asks, "What exactly are you saying?" She replies, "Humanity's children are returning home .....today." Just when she finishes the last sentence, the doctor is looking through the big glass window and notices a very bright flash of light, coming from the distance.

New Scene:
Back on the Galactica, the ceremony is taking place in the starboard landing bay. The triumphant music, first heard in the original Battlestar Galactica series back in the 1970's is playing, while the fighter pilots are performing maneuvers to the crowd's amazement. Captain Adama flies the old Mark II, through the landing bay, over the crowd's head, and out the other side. The crowd cheers with astonishment. The announcer at the podium exclaims, "And now it is my great pleasure to introduce the last commander of the Battlestar Galactica, Commander Adama." Commander Adama starts his speech with "The Cylon War is long over, yet we must not forget the reason why, so many have sacrificed so much, in the cause of freedom. The cost of wearing the uniform, can be high, but....." The commander pauses, thinks over what he is about to say, takes off his glasses and then continues, "Sometimes, it's too high........You know, when we fought the Cylons, we did it to save ourselves from extinction...."
