Battlestar Galactica Mini-Series Part 2a
In part 2 of the mini-series, Commander Adama continues with his speech, "......but we never answered the question why.......Why are we, as a people, worth saving? We still commit murder, because of greed, spite, and jealousy and we still visit all of our sins upon our children. We refuse to accept the responsibilities for anything we have done." The scene switches to Apollo, who is onboard his viper listening to his father's speech, then switches back. Commander Adama continues, "Like we did with the cylons, we decided to play god, create life and that life turned against us." the scene switches to Starbuck, who is still in the brig, sitting on her cot, listening to the Commander's speech. Commander Adama continues, "We comforted ourselves, in the knowledge, that it really wasn't our fault, not really. You cannot play god, then wash your hands of the things you have created ......sooner or later the day comes, when you can't hide from the things that you have done, anymore." As the commander finishes his speech, everyone, everywhere, is in complete silence in reflection of his words. After a few moments pass, the crowd starts applauding. Meanwhile, Colonel Tigh leans over to Commander Adama, who he is sitting next to, and says, "You are one surprising son of a bitch." The commander just looks at him, thinking to himself, he did the right thing.
New Scene:
The scene switches outside where Captain Adama is communicating with a ship that he is to escort back to Caprica. The civilian ship thanks Apollo and then we hear Boomer on the radio saying, "This is Boomer, it was an honor to fly with you Apollo." On board the ship the captain announces, "Ladies and Gentlemen, we are en route back to Caprica. If you look out the starboard window, you might be able to see one of Galactica's old Mark II Vipers, which will be escorting us back home."
New Scene:
Back on Caprica, Dr. Baltar is sitting in a chair watching emergency news broadcasts on two separate screens, that are reporting an attack on the home world. While the reporters are telling the story, the ground starts to shake, where they are, one of the stations is cut, so the doctor looks at the other station, where he sees an explosion and hurricane like winds blowing and shaking the ground. That channel soon cuts out, as well.
Dr. Baltar exclaims, "What have I done?" disheartened, he says "What am I going to do?" He stands up, and the camera shows the Cylon woman standing across the room. Ashamed, Dr. Baltar says, "There's no way out." The Cylon woman walks over to comfort him and says, "I know." Angrily, the doctor walks a way and says, "That's your doing, isn't it?" he thinks for a second and says, "Wait, there has to be another way out of here. I mean, you must have an escape plan. You're not about to be destroyed by your own bombs, are you?" He screams, "How are you leaving?" Suddenly another bright light flashes, and the doctor screams in shock. When the light dims, the cylon woman says, "Gaius, I can't die...when this body is destroyed, my memory, my consciousness, will be transferred to a new one .....I'll just wake up somewhere else, in an identical body." Dr. Baltar, meekly questions, "You mean, there's more out there, like you?" The cylon woman replies, "There are 12 models, I'm number six." Dr. Baltar starts crying and says, "I don't want to die, I don't..." she interrupts and orders him to get down, then a huge shockwave from the bomb reaches the apartment and crashes through the windows. The scene switches to above the planet, where many nuclear explosions are being detonated everywhere.
New Scene:
The scene switches to the commander's quarters, where he is reading a book, then a communication from the control center steals his attention. The communication informs the commander, that there is a priority message from fleet headquarters that was transmitted in the clear. The commander asks, "In the clear? What does it say?" The officer from the control center says, "Attention all colonial units, Cylon attack underway. This is no drill." The commander, sighs in concern and says, "I'll be right there."
New Scene:
The scene switches to Colonel Tigh's room, where he has burning holes into a picture of some woman. Obviously, he has had it with her, whoever she is. An alarm goes off, and the loud speaker chimes in saying, "Action Stations, Action Stations. Set Condition One, through out the ship! This is not a drill!" Then the message repeats. Colonel Tigh jumps to his feet, throw's on his uniform and heads to the command center. There are scenes all over the ship of people running to their duty stations, we see a few engineers hurrying to their stations and exclaiming, "Not a drill? They can't be serious! What are we going to shoot with? The ship's got no ammunition!" Chief Tyrol yells, "Alright people, let's go, let's get this hangar bay ready for possible incoming!" Colonel Tigh reaches the command center and yells, "What have we got, a shipping accident?" One of the bridge officers tells Commander Adama, that condition one is set, all decks report ready for action. Colonel Tigh, while reading the brief the Commander handed him earlier, exclaims, "This is a joke, the fleet's playing a joke on you....It's a retirement prank...come on!" Commander Adama looks at him sternly and says, "I don't think so", then he makes an announcement over the COM, "This is the commander... ", he pauses then continues, "moments ago, this ship received word of a Cylon attack against our home world is underway. We do not know the size, or the strength, or the disposition of the enemy forces, but all indications point to a massive assault against colonial defenses. Admiral Negala has taken personal command of the fleet, aboard the Battlestar Atlantia, following complete destruction of Picon Fleet Headquarters, in the first wave of the attacks. How? Why? Doesn't really matter, now. What does matter, is that, as of this moment, we are at WAR!", he lowers his voice and continues, "You've trained for this, you're ready for this. Stand to your duties, trust your fellow shipmates, and we'll all get through this. Further updates, as we get them. Thank you."
Two engineers are discussing the events, "War with the Cylons?", one of them says in disbelief. The chief says, "Alright people, this is what we do, we're the best, so let's get the old girl ready and kick some Cylon ass! Come on! Let's go! Move!" He then says to himself, "This better be for real."
Commander Adama shouts, "Tactical? Begin a plot of all known military units in the solar system, friendly or otherwise." The tactical officer replies, "Yes, sir!" The commander then calls out to the Executive Officer, "EXO? If we're in a shooting war, we need something to shoot." Colonel Tigh responds, "I'll start checking munitions depots." The commander then turns to the communications officer and says, "Dee? Send a signal to our fighter squadron, I want positions and tactical status, immediately!" She nods and says, "Yes, sir." He then continues, "And get Kara Thrace, out of the brig."
