Battlestar Galactica Season One, Episode "Thirty-three", Page 7
New Scene:
Back on the Galactica, in the ready room, we see Apollo making adjustments to the pilot rotation schedule, when he notices his father come in. Apollo says, "Sir?", to which the commander replies, "Son." There is a long silent pause, then the commander says, "I gave the order. It was my responsibility." Apollo, thoughtfully responds, "I pulled the trigger ...That's mine."
The commander reflects on his sons' courage and then the scene switches back to the Colonial One, where Billy is waking the president with, "Madam President? ...Madam President?" The president turns her head and replies, "I'm sorry, you were saying something?" A few seconds later, Billy responds with, "24 hours. No Cylons." After a short pause, he continues, "At least, you know it was the right choice." The president nods and says, "The right choice." After a moment, the president says, "I'm sorry, Billy. I think I would like some time alone, please." Billy replies with, "Of course." As Billy turns to leave, he pauses for a moment, then the president asks, "What is it?", to which Billy replies, "Update on the headcount." The president looks at him and asks, "Subtract, how many?", but Billy replies with, "Actually, you can add one." and smiles. He then continues with, "Um ...A baby was born this morning on the Rising Star ...a ...a boy." The president whispers, "A baby?", to which Billy replies, "Yep." The president whispers her reply, "Thank you." and Billy turns to leave, proud that he finally had some good news to give the president.
Final Scene:
In this closing scene, we finally get to see the headcount go up by one. President Roslin, erases 47,972 from the board and changes it to 47,973. She turns around to show, mixed tears of sorrow and joy, fall from her face.
