Battlestar Galactica Season One, Episode "Water", Page 6
New Scene:
Back at the command center, Dee reports, "Raptors, who have reported back after three star systems ...so far, all report negative for water, sir." Colonel Tigh comes into the room and reports, "I just checked with Astrometrics. They're coming up with big goose eggs. There's no star systems, within the range of our telescopes, with planetary bodies likely to have water on them." Dee, reports, "Sir? Another Raptor just checked in. Negative on water, as well." The commander then asks, "Who's left?", to which Dee replies, "Boomer and Crashdown, sir." Colonel Tigh says, "Well, if they come up negative, as well ...What's our backup plan?" The commander replies, "We jump, to another sector and start the search all over, again.", he sighs with disappointment and comments, "A needle in a hay stack ...", to which the colonel replies, "More like, grain of salt on a beach."
New Scene:
We see Boomer's Raptor traveling through her assigned star system, then the camera switches to the cockpit and we hear Crashdown report, "Still nothing and....", he hits a button on the computer console, waits for the results, then continues, "more nothing." Boomer is looking at her computer screen, which shows, multiple, positive contacts of water, but she is in some sort of a trance and reports, "I've got nothing here, either." Crashdown replies, "Then, that's it. All we find is more zero's ...I'm getting thirsty, just thinking about it ...I hope someone else has more luck out there." Boomer is blinking her eyes, trying to come to her senses, then says, "Yeah ...", to which Crashdown asks, "What's on your mind, Boomer?" She replies with, "I don't know ...", but something is bugging her, so she says, "I have this feeling ...Let's run that last sweep, again." Crashdown replies with, "You're the boss.", then restarts his last scan and says, "Beginning Sweep 21." Boomer follows with, "Beginning Sweep 22." and after a short pause, Crashdown says, "Boomer? I'm getting nothing, again. How about you?" The camera zooms in on Boomer's computer screen, that shows multiple contacts, once again, then pans over to show the detonator light is blinking, signifying it's armed status. Boomer is staring at the computer screen, trying to make sense of it, and her mind tells her there is nothing there, but her intuition says different. She says, "I'm ..I'm having trouble seeing it." she blinks, in an attempt to bring clarity to her eyesight, then Crashdown asks, "What do you mean?" Boomer doesn't answer, but continues to blink and shake her head, to try to come out of her stupor. Suddenly, we see her hand moving toward the detonator and resting on its trigger, as she says, "I think I see ..." and just as suddenly, she says, "Ahh! I have positive contact! Yeah!" and at the same time, removes her hand from the detonator. Crashdown moves up to the front of the ship to see Boomer's results, then screams for joy, "Oh, Yes!!! Oh!!! Yeah!!!"
New Scene:
Back on the Battlestar Galactica, Dee reports, "Sir? Dradis, just picked up Boomer's Raptor!" Colonel Tigh says, "Let's hear it." Dee patches the communication to the loudspeaker and we hear the report, "Galactica? Crashdown. Dradis indicates that it's time to break out the swim shorts, because we found water! Repeat, Positive Water Contact! After hearing this incredible news, the entire CIC crew celebrates and we see a relieved Commander Adama look to the colonel with a big smile, then turns to Dee and orders, "Patch me into the entire fleet." Dee, does as she is told, then says, "You're connected, sir!" and the commander gets on the radio, "Attention! We have found water!", as the camera pans around the room, to show a cheerful celebration. Then we hear the commander say, "Let's go have a drink!"
The scene, briefly, switches back to Boomer's Raptor, where we hear a happy Crashdown say, "I think they're pleased, I can hear them screaming in the background." The camera pans over to show Boomer, suddenly realize, the missing detonator is connected to a bomb, situated in the cockpit, next to her seat. The camera pans up, to show the horrified look on her face, as she slowly moves her hand to the detonator and disarms the bomb.
New Scene:
Back on Caprica, we see the rain storm has not let up and the camera zooms in, to show the other Boomer taking out a syringe. As she is injecting herself, we hear Helo say, "Sharon? Careful with that needle. We're running low on anti-radiation meds." Meanwhile, Helo is eating a plate of food and with disappointment says, "Not really mom's home cooking. We'll be cooking up a fine meal of twigs and moss, before the end of the week." They both have a giggle, then Helo turns to Boomer and asks, "Can I ask you something, Sharon?", to which she nods. He continues with, "Why did you come back for me?", to which she replies, "I hate to fly alone." Helo, is not satisfied with her answer, so he says, "come on ...You disobeyed orders, came back into this hell-hole ..I mean, not that I don't appreciate it, but why?" She responds with an affectionate, "I just couldn't leave ya behind. Leave it at that." Suddenly, there is some chatter heard over the radio and Helo listens carefully and says, "It's the Colonial Fleet signal!" Both of them are happy to hear the signal, then Helo continues, "I can't decode it, but it means there's someone." Boomer replies with a joyous, "Someone ...in the military sees we're alive and kicking, here on Caprica!" and they both hug each other in celebration. During the hug, a moment of bonding happens and as they release their embrace, Helo looks at Boomer with affectionate eyes. She doesn't seem to respond in kind, so he looks down with embarrassment and says, "Now, all we have to do is find them."
New Scene:
Back on the Battlestar Galactica, Boomer and Crashdown have landed their Raptor in the hangar bay and they are surrounded by a grateful, cheering crowd. As the two hero's exit the Raptor, we hear Apollo say, "Way to go, Boomer! Nice job. Let's get you debriefed.", to which she responds, "Yes, sir." As Apollo is leading her to the debriefing, Chief Tyrol comes along side and she says, "Chief? Do you think you could take a look at my induction pilons? I think there's a short.", to which the chief replies, "Yeah, uhh ...", he turns around to look for someone to do the job and says, "Cally?", but Boomer interrupts him with, "No, chief. You need to take a look at it yourself." The scene fast forwards, to show the chief boarding Boomer's Raptor, where he is shocked to find the missing detonator lodged near her seat. He quickly looks around, to make sure nobody sees what he is doing.
