Battlestar Galactica Season One, Episode "Bastille Day ", Page 7
Meanwhile, Starbuck, finally has a clear shot at Zarek and she takes aim and fires, but Apollo pulls him out of the way, just in time, then he yells, "Cease fire! Cease fire!", so Starbuck, who is disappointed, radios the order, "All teams, hold positions." At the same time, we see all three teams of marines, move in to hold Zarek's men at gunpoint.
Back to Cally, who is gasping for air and on the verge of bleeding to death, Apollo yells, "I need a medic, here!" Surprisingly, Zarek shows some remorse for what has happened, because when the camera zooms in on his face, you can see some tears starting to form and he says, "Godddd.", as he shakes his head.
New Scene:
Onboard the Colonial One, the president exclaims, "I don't believe this!" and the commander agrees with, "It's unacceptable." Apollo replies, with, "It's done. The prisoners, have full control of the Astral Queen. We evac-ed all the guards and support personnel. It's their ship." Commander Adama, who is angered by Apollo's words, replies with, "They're a threat, to the entire fleet!" Apollo, defensively replies, "They've been disarmed. The ship, itself, has no weapons." and the commander yells, "The ship, itself, is a weapon!" Apollo replies, "They're totally dependant on us, for food, fuel ...and they've agreed to organize the work force, for the water detail on the moon." President Roslin, who is quite displeased, says "You've committed me to holding elections, within the year." Apollo replies, "Madam President, with respect ...You're serving out the remainder of President Adar's term. When that term is up, in seven months ...the law says, there's an election. I only committed you to obeying the law." The president replies, "You were not authorized to make any deals!", but Apollo continues to defend his actions, "I swore an oath ...to defend the articles. The articles say, there's an election in seven months. Now, if you're telling me, that we're throwing out the law, then I am not a captain, you're not a commander, and you are NOT the president ...and I don't owe either of you, a damn explanation for anything!" There is reflective silence, as the president realizes that Apollo is right, she then turns to the commander and says, "He's your son.", to which the commander replies, "He's your advisor." The president nods at Apollo and says, "An election ..." and the commander whispers in Apollo's ear, "I guess you , finally, picked your side.", turns to the president and says, "Madam President.", as he excuses himself from the room.
New Scene:
Back on the Battlestar Galactica, Starbuck, reports to Colonel Tigh's quarters, walks over to the table and grabs a couple of glasses, then returns to the colonel to pour them both a drink. Colonel Tigh is pleasantly surprised, at the gesture, as he holds his glass out for the occasion. Then, Starbuck holds her glass up in a silent toast, as they both share a drink. Colonel Tigh is shocked to find, that what he is drinking is not whiskey and says, "What the hell is this? Water?" Starbuck smiles and says, "You bet your ass. There's plenty more, where that came from." There is a short pause, then she continues, "Ummmm ...I have my flaws, too." Colonel Tigh changes his tone to say, "The difference is, my flaws are personal. Your flaws are professional.", which causes Starbuck, to nearly choke in shock. Colonel Tigh says, "Thank you, Lieutenant. That will be all." Starbuck, who is disappointed with the result of her peace offering, turns to leave the room.
New Scene:
Still on the Battlestar Galactica, Chief Tyrol is visiting Cally in sickbay, when he says, "Specialist Lazy, how are you feeling? Must be nice, lying around, doing nothing, as usual." Cally smiles with her reply, "Sorry, chief. I didn't think you would find me, here.", to which the chief replies, "Oh well ...you see, I am so on to you." Gaeta speaks up, with "So, Cally? Is it true? Did you really bite that guys ear off?" and she replies, "He's lucky, that's all I bit off." and the room has a little chuckle. Chief Tyrol, affectionately, replies, "That's my girl."
Final Scene:
Aboard the Colonial One, the scene starts off, showing the president in bed, while reading a book. Suddenly, she hears a knock on the door and when she answers it, Apollo sees that she is in her pajamas, so he apologizes, "I'm sorry, I can come back." She tells him, "No. That's alright. Umm ...come on in. Apollo says, "I just wanted to say, goodbye, before I head back to the Galactica ...and to tell you ...I hope you understand, I wasn't being disloyal, Madam President." She assures him with, "I understand. You're upholding the law. I admire it." Apollo replies, "I believe in you and what we are doing...and for what it's worth, in seven months, you'll have my vote."
Apollo starts to leave, but the president stops him with, "Could you ...sit?" They both walk over to the table and sit down, to have a heart to heart conversation. The president starts with, "There's something, that I need to tell you ...the truth is, I might not be here in seven months." Apollo smiles with his reply, "Are you planning a vacation?", to which she returns the smile and replies, "No." After a, brief pause, she says, "I told your father, that I have allergies ..." She clears her throat and continues, "...but, I have cancer. I found out the morning, of the attack." Apollo is disheartened with his reply, "I'm so sorry, Madam President. I don't know what to say." The president replies with, "I understand ...I'm going to fight this, but there is a great need for secrecy." Apollo assures her with, "Of course.", as he nods his head, then the president continues, "Whether or not I survive this illness, it is of great importance to me, that there's a future for the people. And I fear that knowledge of my illness, will only erode hope ...So, this has to stay, between you and me." Apollo nods in agreement and replies with a sincere, "You can count on me." The president gives Apollo a trusting smile with her reply, "I know, I can ...You're Captain Apollo." and the episode ends.
