Battlestar Galactica Season Three, Episode "The Woman King", Page 2
After hearing this, Admiral Adama says, "This is a civilian infection, Dr. Robert, so it's in your hands, but I want Tyrol and the crew immunized, before they get sick. I don't need any downtime." Dr. Cottle, then offers, "If we disinfect everything and stress hygiene, some people won't get sick and they won't need the medicine." Helo replies with the question, "Then, shouldn't we get everyone to the showers? Especially the Sagitarons? ...We should make an announcement." Dr. Robert disagrees, "No, we don't want to single them out anymore than we already have to. We'll have a riot on our hands. Now, if it were up to me, I would say, just get the Sagitarons settled, then deal with the civies, that have already arrived." Dr. Cottle then says, "Hmmm ...Well, at least, you won't have to worry about having enough medicine for the Sagitarons ..." Admiral Adama agrees, "Yeah, most of them are going to refuse it." The admiral pauses for a moment, then continues with, "People are going to die." Dr. Cottle, then says, "For the last three thousand years, medicine's been the great curse." Colonel Tigh, resentfully offers, "That's because, they're a bunch of stubborn, root sucking, jackasses ...holding onto traditions, that are a thousand years old!" With the colonel's resentful words, the camera pans over to show a troubled look on Helo's face and the scene ends.
New Scene:
Still onboard the Battlestar Galactica, down in the cargo hold, where the refugees are located, the camera pans around to show most of the Sagitarons are sick, then we hear Dr. Robert ask Helo, "Stink enough for ya, in here?" Helo replies with, "Yeah, it's a really potent smell." The doctor explains that the smell is coming from the burning roots, that the Sagitarons are using to cure their sickness, unsuccessfully. Helo asks, if it works and the doctor replies with, "Hell, I don't know ...They're all going to die, anyway."
New Scene:
Onboard the Colonial One, Zarek, is discussing Dr. Baltar's fate, with the president, "Tell me there won't be a trial." The president replies with, "Gaius Baltar, will be tried for high crimes and treason. A tribunal of Judges will hear the evidence against him, a verdict will be read ...he will be found guilty and he will, finally, be held responsible for his actions. If you can summon up a little patience, as I have done, we will get through this ordeal." Zarek replies with the grave warning, "Listen to me ...Baltar will get his trial and this is what you'll get ...A hurricane. The media will descend on you and watch and scrutinize and question your every move. You will have sectarian violence, you will have assassination attempts, you will have civil unrest on a scale, we've never seen! Work, labor, every day routine in this fleet, will come to a complete halt ...This trial is going to bring this entire fleet, down!" The president's aide disagrees, "Mr. Vice President, we have a security plan in order, which includes rapid marine deployment, increased CAP operations, security details ..." Zarek interrupts with, "A hurricane, Laura.", while shaking his head in urgency. He stands up and says, "If I were you? I would declare martial law, during the trial. You're going to need a lot more than a little patience, to survive ...I'm here, if you need me.", as he turns to leave the room.
After Zarek leaves the room, the president's aide resentfully says, "Your best friend, is your worst enemy.", to which the president replies, "I've never seen him like that ...he was truly frightened."
New Scene:
Back on the Battlestar Galactica, down in the cargo hold, there is chaos among the non-Sagitarons. There is a line formed in front of Helo's desk with complaints, "We are not sick! Sagitarons brought the sickness! Send them back!" Helo replies, "Ok, sir. Where do you suggest that I send them?" The man replies with, "I don't know. Figure it out!" Helo replies with, "Ok. Your concerns have been noted. We're going to do the best we can.", which does nothing to calm the people down.
The next in line, is the Sagittaron woman, who's son fell sick, earlier. With much heart ache, she says, "My son is dead." Helo nods his head, as if he expected it to happen, then says, "I'm sorry." He then notices the bracelet on the woman's wrist and says, "You Sagitarons, believe it's supposed to bring you good health?" After a slight pause, he continues with frustration, "Look, I'm sorry, but it's not enough ...If you don't treat the disease, it's fatal. Ok? ...This didn't have to happen!" The woman replies with great feeling in her voice, "Yes, it did ...he was killed." Helo, shakes his head, not believing what she is trying to tell him, then says, "No, ma'am. He died ...ok? He died, because he needed real medicine." The woman replies with, "He died, because I made a mistake." Helo, who does not understand what she is trying to say, replies with, "Ok ...Ok, good. Yeah. And please, tell the others." She replies with, "I will ...I will tell them, not to trust him. They warned me about him, but I wouldn't listen. I didn't want my son, to die ...I took a chance. I went to Dr. Robert ...I let the doctor give the medicine to Willy." Helo, feels her pain and answers, "Ma'am? You waited too long.", to which she replies, "Willy had been sick for less than 12 hours ...he was nineteen. He is dead ...that doctor, killed my son!" Helo is haunted by her words, but as she turns to leave, he wonders if he can believe what he heard.
New Scene:
Still onboard the Battlestar Galactica, Helo, in an attempt to get to the bottom of things, visits Dr. Robert, who says, "We lost another one last night." Helo nods and says, "Yeah, Willy King.", but the doctor replies with, "No. A three year old girl, who's parents refused to let me treat her ...Willy King's mother, lost Willy king. It's a shame, the boy was a goner ...you saw him when he came in here. He was, at least, three days symptomatic." Helo replies with, "You explained this to the mother?" Dr. Robert replies with, "Yes. Of course, I did. But what the hell am I supposed to say to her? ...Sorry, ma'am. But if you had just turned the corner a little sooner with your superstitious crap, we could have saved your son." The doctor then turns to Helo and says, "Get your shirt off, would ya?", to which Helo replies, "Excuse me?" The doctor pulls a needle out and says, "I'm going to vaccinate ya." Helo replies with, "But, I'm not sick, I thought we were rationing." The doctor replies with, "You think I'm going to wait till you're on your back for a day? Who the hell else, is going to help me around here?" With that explanation, Helo takes his shirt off, to allow the doctor to give him the vaccine. While the doctor is giving Helo the medicine, he says, "Oh. I talked to Tigh, who was asking about ya. I told him you were doing a hell of a job. I wouldn't wish this place on anybody." The doctor then asks, "Are you ready? This might sting a bit." and gives him the shot.
New Scene:
Still onboard the Battlestar Galactica, we see Apollo, Dee, Tyrol, and Marge playing a game, of what looks like, cross between basketball and that carnival game, where you dunk the clown. The bartender yells, "Put it in the hole, Marge!" Marge turns to him and jokingly says, "Do you want to know my secret, Connor?" I pretend this thing is, your face." and whips the ball as hard as she can.
