The chief, holds their baby up, so that she can see and says, "Look, who's here." When the camera zooms down on Cally, you can see, that she is bleeding from one of her eyeballs and she is hooked up to some sort of breathing apparatus. The chief, with sorrow in his heart, tells his wife, "No matter what, I don't know how, but we will manage to find a balance ...you and me. We will take care of Nicky Ok? ...I love you." Cally has an emotional and positive response, as she reaches out to touch the glass window on the chamber. The chief returns the emotion with a gasps of happiness and says, "Look at mommy's hand.", then he takes the baby's hand and places it over Cally's.

Admiral Adama, who was there to check on their welfare, had been standing in the background all this time and witnesses Cally's positive response, with relief.

New Scene:
Still onboard the Battlestar Galactica, Apollo enters his quarters, to find Dee in bed sleeping. She wakes up and gives him a hello kiss, then Apollo points to some boxes over on the table and asks, "So, what's this?" Dee replies, "Oh, it was here when I got in. It's from your father." Apollo jokingly says, "Is it ticking?" Dee has a chuckle, then replies, "He left you a note." Apollo walks over and opens the boxes to find they are full of books, then he reads, "Caprican Criminal Codes." He is surprised to find the words "Property of Joseph Adama" written on the inside cover and proudly says, "These were my grandfather's law books." They are both examining the books, when Dee says, "Your dad, must have had these in storage, all this time. Why is he giving these to you now?" Apollo reads the note, that came with the books, "FOR THAT DAY WHEN WE ALL HAVE THE TIME". He looks up to his wife and gives her a proud smile.

New Scene:
Still onboard the Battlestar Galactica, President Roslin is talking to Admiral Adama, when she says, "I'm glad you stopped by, I have something for you. This was given to me, by one of the colonists, down on New Caprica and I forgot about it, until I found it in a pile of old clothes.", as she hands him a book. The admiral reads the title, "Blood runs at midnight." The president replies, "Don't let the title, fool you. It's a pretty good mystery. I think you'll like it and it's not a loan. It's a gift." The admiral looks up and smiles in gratitude, then asks, "You ever think about the times much ...on New Caprica?" The president replies with, "I try ...to think about the good times. Yes, I do." The admiral replies, "One, in particular ...stands out ...in my mind. You were wearing a really bright, red dress." The president is surprised and flattered that he remembered and smiles. The admiral continues, "You said, you wanted to build a cabin." The president replies, "It was Baltar's ground breaking ceremony. I got a little silly that night." and smiles in fond remembrance.

The admiral nods and returns the smile, then asks, "You ever wonder what would have happened, if the Cylons hadn't come back?" The president gives an intellectual reply, "Well, I think given Baltar and the terrain, we couldn't have made a go of it. What about you? Do you think you would have stayed on Galactica? Or do you think you would have settled?" The admiral, gives an equally intellectual reply, "That's pretty hypothetical. Isn't it?" The president admits, "It IS, until it isn't.", then she breaks down in a giddy laugh, at the absurdity of what she just said. Meanwhile, the admiral genuinely enjoys both her company and her laughter and can't stop smiling. The president, is smiling ear to ear, when she asks, "Did I just say that?" and the admiral replies, "It's worth it, just seeing you laugh like that."

After a brief pause, he continues, "We've been at war for so long, sometimes we forget what we are fighting for ...Raise our kids in peace, enjoy one another's company, live life as people, again." The president smiles with her reply, "Like that nut on New Caprica. That's what we are really talking about ...here and now. Isn't it?" The admiral returns the smile and says, "That, and ...other times." The president, then asks, "So, if the Cylons, hadn't come back?", to which he replies, "But, they did.", as he walks over to stand face to face and continues, "We have certain responsibilities. " The president replies with an affectionate, "Yes, we do, sir ...and uh ...I will be back in a few days ...and if you 'ld like, we can talk more about that night." She grabs her things and turns to leave the room, but she stops and turns back, one last time to say, "Bill?" Admiral Adama looks up with deep admiration and she says, "The answer is, yes. I absolutely, would have built a cabin."

Final Scene:
Still onboard the Battlestar Galactica, the admiral is back in his quarters pouring a nightcap, when he hears his late wife say, "Go ahead. Put it away.", referring to their wedding picture. She continues, "...Like you have, after every anniversary. Promise me, you won't take it out, again." Then, the scene switches over, to show the admirals daydream, where he says, "It would be easier, to hate you ...But, that would be a lie, Caroline ...and there's been enough of that, through our lives." They both look down at the photo and she says, "We had something, didn't we?", to which he replies, "Yeah. We had something." and she leans over to kiss him on the lips. Back in the admiral's quarters, he places the photo back in the drawer and says, "See you, next year.", which brings an end to a long day.
