The president doubts his sincerity and can only smile, while Admiral Adama glares at him, suspiciously and makes the remark, "You worked at the public litigation office, on Caprica.", then he asks, "You think you have the qualifications, to handle a case of this magnitude?" The mysterious man replies with a confident, "I was born, for this. That ...and the fact, that I have a pulse." Just then a cat jumps up on the president's desk and the mysterious man says, "Ahh ...Blatz, belonged to my wife.", as he picks the feline up to put him back in a traveling case, then says, "Don't worry, he doesn't scratch or bite, like she did." He proceeds to put the cat away, as he continues to convince them that he is the man for the job, "Is it of any comfort ...If I despise him, as much as you do, having to hire me? So, there it is. Shall we get started?"

The Son Also Rises Recap: Scene Twelve

The scene starts out, with the camera hovering over the Battlestar Galactica, then switches inside to the admiral's quarters, where he is talking to Apollo, "I'm going to need you to handle the security detail, on the new attorney." Apollo is surprised and disappointed with his reply, "Me? So, that's it. You're grounding me?" Admiral Adama, pauses for a moment, then replies, "And you're the only one, I can trust." Apollo is not convinced of his father's reason, so he says, "You know? Just say it. You're pulling me." Admiral Adama continues with the doubtful justification, "It's an important job, I need your help." Apollo pleads with his father, "Dad, I'm fine.", to which the admiral replies, "No, you're not." Apollo asks, "Why?" and his father replies, "Because, I'm not." Apollo gets defensive with, "Yeah, well. Maybe, you should take a rest.", but this only makes the Admiral grow more serious with his response, "Helo, will be stepping in as CAG. I want you on the ship. Not up there. Not until, you can work this out." Apollo gives a sarcastic smile, with his reply, "Alright. I understand. Work it out. Ok.", as he turns to leave the room.

The Son Also Rises Recap: Scene Thirteen

Still onboard the Battlestar Galactica, Apollo escorts the new lawyer to his quarters and says, "I'll be handling the security for ya. Where do you want your bags?" The man points over on the floor, then Apollo advises him, "You'll have two marines stationed outside the door. Miss Cassidy, the prosecuting attorney, she's just down the hall. The shower's that way. Sorry, coed. Now, if there's anything else?" Impatiently, the man replies, "I would like to see my client." Apollo is surprised with his reply, "Now?" The man points at Apollo and makes the observation, "Pilot?" and Apollo answers, "Yeah.", then the man asks, "King of the pilots?", but Apollo is annoyed by the question, so the man asks, "We could stand around here and discuss, why you got stuck with me, if you want?" Apollo replies, "I'll take you to his cell", but the man says, "No, no. Not there. Half of the ship is probably listening in."

Apollo smiles and says, "Fine, whatever. We have an interrogation room.", but the lawyer disagrees, "Interrogation rooms, give me stage fright." Apollo replies, "I can't bring him here." and the lawyer says, "I was thinking your quarters." Apollo, is surprised with the reply, "What?" and the lawyer continues to explain, "Yeah, before it gets wired for sound, like this place probably is. What's the problem? You forgot to make your bed?" Apollo is losing his patience with his reply, "I don't care where you see him. I just can't leave you alone." The lawyer points at Apollo and says, "Major? It is major, isn't it? I have a right ...to consult with my client ...IN private, without anybody eavesdropping, or lookin in. Whoever cares the most, wins. It says so, in there.", as he holds the book, Law of Mind: The Psychology of Legal Practice, written by Joseph Adama, up to Apollo's face. Apollo humbly replies, "So?" and the lawyer says, "I want to see my client, you don't care, I win." As the lawyer puts the book back in his briefcase, he makes another observation, "You know, you look like him." Apollo turns with interest, before asking,"You knew my grandfather?" and the lawyer replies, "Hated his guts ..., but he taught me everything I know.", then he grabs his briefcase and Apollo follows him out of the room.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the fleet, the camera zooms in on a table full of electronics and explosives, while the terrorist is testing the detonator on a newly built bomb.

The Son Also Rises Recap: Scene Fourteen

The scene starts out, zooming in on the Battlestar Galactica from space, then switches inside, to show Dr. Baltar being escorted by heavily armed guards, to Apollo's quarters, where he and the lawyer are waiting for their arrival. As the door opens, a guard removes Dr. Baltar's arm and leg restraints, then removes the bullet proof vest, which was protecting him from an assassination attempt. As the guards leave, Dr. Baltar looks at Apollo and resentfully asks, "What are you doing here, anyway?" The lawyer speaks up, "You can speak freely ...he signed confidentiality papers." Dr. Baltar replies, "Yep, I'm sure. It's pathetic. Pathetic! Security? Security is already toasting to my, untimely, demise. About the only thing that bloke ever did, apart from napping, was you know, manage to uh ...smuggle out my papers." Dr. Baltar sits on the bed and bounces up and down, testing it out, then he says, "Papers?" and walks over to Apollo and asks, "Do you have any paper?" As soon as he asks that question, the lawyer pulls a notebook from his pocket and drops it on the table. Dr. Baltar approaches him and says, "Thank you.", as he reaches into the crotch of his pants to pull out a pen to write with. As the doctor begins to write, he mouths the words, "The Nature of Modern Life is, Obsession, ..." As the doctor continues to write, he looks up at the lawyer and asks, "So, tell me. Do you honestly think that I will get a fair trial?" The lawyer replies, "Doubtful." and the doctor replies, as if he already knew, "Yes." The lawyer makes another observation, "You haven't been, exactly, helping yourself ...now, have you?" Dr. Baltar asks him, "You object to my writing?", but surprisingly the lawyer replies, "On the contrary, keep it coming. This new manifesto of yours, shows great change in ya. This little uh ...operating manual of yours ...well, it keeps em all guessing." Dr. Baltar looks at him with interest and thinks about the lawyer's words, before saying, "Ok ...ok", while nodding in agreement. Dr. Baltar pauses for a moment and then decides to talk to the lawyer, "Caprica Six ...she is the key. They can use her, to completely destroy me. You need to get to her. You need to know, what she's thinking ...and you need to ... I mean, talk to her. Tell her, uh ...tell her that I love her, very much, but I'm ...." The lawyer replies, "I can sense that, yes." Dr. Baltar looks up at Apollo and says, "Major? You need to find out where we are all standing." The lawyer replies, "To listen, requires a voice. For what needs to be known, requires us to ask." Dr. Baltar looks up at the lawyer, in surprise, as he continues, "My Triumphs, My Mistakes by Gaius Baltar." Dr. Baltar smiles proudly, then says, "But, you say it very well." and the lawyer replies, "I've done my reading. Once, those papers arrive, I suggest you do yours."
