Crossroads Part 1 Recap: Scene 13

The camera zooms in from space, on the Battlestar Galactica, then switches inside, to show President Roslin on the witness stand, answering the prosecutors question, "I was grading papers, in the schoolhouse, at night and they came again. Fortunately, the children were gone, it was after dark. They took close to 200 of our people, that night ...under Baltar's direct orders. As it turns out, all of our names were on a death list, signed by Dr. Baltar." The prosecutor then says, "Let us be crystal clear on this fact. You are saying, that the defendant, Gaius Baltar, ordered your execution and the execution of 200 other people?" The president grudgingly replies, "Yes, indeed. That's exactly what I am saying." Lampkin looks over to Dr. Baltar and says, "We need to talk.", while Baltar looks on in great duress.

Crossroads Part 1 Recap: Scene 14

During a recess, Apollo reads through some of his law books, while Dr. Baltar pleads with Lampkin, "We need to find something, anything, that can discredit her testimony. She's a fanatic. Right?" Lampkin looks over at Apollo and says, "You're awfully quiet." Apollo replies, "I'm just listening." Lampkin goads him with, "You see, your problem is, that I'm a really good lawyer and you're not. So, let's have it." Apollo asks, "Have what?", as Dr. Baltar looks at him with distrust and says, "My god, he's right. You do know something. You know something and you're not saying." Apollo replies, "It's probably not even true." Lampkin perks up and says, "I like it, already." Apollo replies, "It's a personal matter and I doubt she would ever say anything in front of me." Dr. Baltar gets excited and raises his voice, "She!? She? This is about Laura Roslin!? And you're not saying ...tell me! Tell me what ..." and Lampkin cuts him off by yelling, "Shut up!!"

Lampkin looks over at Apollo and asks, "Enjoying yourself, so far?" Apollo smiles and says, "Huh?" Lampkin continues, "Having a good time, sticking it to the old man, defending the most hated man in the universe?" Apollo replies, "That's not why I agreed to do this." and Lampkin says, "No, you just decided to stand up for truth and justice and all of those lovely things being scribed upon doors." Apollo replies, "Yeah, that's exactly what I'm doing ...because, I believe in the system. I really believe. I even believe, that our low life, pond scum of a client, actually deserves a fair trial." Lampkin hits hard with his reply, "The SYSTEM, requires that you tell what you know ...which leaves you with one of two uncomfortable options. First, share the information and in so doing, uphold the very principles that you claim to hold so dear or second, keep em to yourself and prove, once and for all, your only purpose here is to jab your father in the eye and make a mockery of the entire justice system." Apollo smiles and sarcastically replies, "Very nice. Very, very nice, but I know why I am here. I don't need to prove it to you or anyone else." Lampkin replies, "You're wrong. You need to prove it to yourself, or you'll leave that courtroom out there, knowing you kept a secret, that could have saved THAT man's miserable life." There is a slight pause and Apollo lowers his head, thinking about what Lampkin is saying, before the lawyer continues, "Now, unless I greatly misjudged your character, THAT'S not something that Lee Adama wishes on his conscience. So, what will it be major? Sit on the sidelines, mouthing pieties, or are you going to get in this trial ...give us something we can use."

Crossroads Part 1 Recap: Scene 15

Still onboard the Battlestar Galactica, Admiral Adama and Colonel Tigh had been out drinking and are headed to the colonel's quarters, when Tigh falls to the ground. The admiral helps him to his feet and on to the bed, before saying, "I got some good news, today. We found the radiation signature on the Tylium ship, just like the Cylon prisoner said we would." Colonel Tigh says, "Ohhh, that's great." Admiral Adama replies, "Mr. Gaeta, estimates the fleet is nine jumps away from the nebula. Considering how long it's going to take to fix the Tylium ship, we're out ...maybe three days. Three days out, from the next clue ...on the road to earth." Colonel Tigh shows sadness, when he says, "I can't smell her. I can't smell her anymore, Bill. I kept her clothes. Her smell is gone, now." Admiral Adama gets to his feet and says, "I gotta go, Saul." and the colonel says, "I'm sorry about all that, in court." The admiral replies, "There's nothing to be sorry about.", but Colonel Tigh continues, "I embarrassed you. I made you look bad." Admiral Adama looks over at him and says, "You're my oldest friend, Saul. You never embarrass me." and reaches out to shake his hand in friendship. The admiral says, "Get some rest.", then leaves the room.

Crossroads Part 1 Recap: Scene 16

Still onboard the Battlestar Galactica, in Admiral Adama's quarters, Apollo says, "Can a former CAG make a suggestion to the admiral? What if we don't fix the Tylium ship?" His father replies, "Repairs have, already started.", but Apollo continues, "I realize that, but hear me out. We're too close to the nebula, to fix the problem and hope the Cylons can't guess where we're going, so if we DON'T fix it ...if instead, we send the ship off on a new course, with a couple of Raptors riding shotgun ...let them make a few jumps, before rejoining the fleet, it might throw the Cylons off." Admiral Adama is exhausted with his reply, "That's a good idea. I'll take it into consideration. Is there anything else?"

Apollo pauses for a moment then asks, "How's the president?", to which the admiral is confused and annoyed with his reply, "What?" and Apollo elaborates, "Is she ok? She looked a little rattled in court, yesterday." Admiral Adama sighs with annoyance, shakes his head , then says, "We can't talk about the trial outside of court. You know that, or you should." Apollo nods and says, "I know. I wasn't asking ...", but the admiral interrupts him with, "After what you did to Tigh, you're the last person I would consider, to confide in." Apollo looks surprised and says, "Me? I didn't do anything to Tigh. He was drunk! That's really not my fault." Admiral Adama looks up at Apollo in anger and says, "You told Lampkin, about Ellen." Apollo replies, "I didn't even know about Ellen." The admiral looks away in disgust and says, "Yeah, right.", as he takes another sip of whiskey. Apollo stares him down and challenges his father, "You calling me a liar?" The admiral looks toward him and says, "I'm calling you a liar and a coward. One that doesn't have the guts to go after a man, himself. Instead, you had this shift to a stranger and let him stab Tigh in the back. For What!? Traitorous, piece of garbage, Gaius Baltar? He doesn't even deserve a trial." As the admiral takes another sip of his whiskey, Apollo asks, "Are you done?" Admiral Adama turns and gives his son a cold stare and says, "Yes." and Apollo replies, "Then, so am I.", as he takes the Major Insignia off his uniform and hands them to the admiral, resigning his commission. The admiral looks down on the table and feels betrayed, so he gets to his feet and stares at his son with anger, before Apollo says, "I will not serve under a man, who questions my integrity." The admiral resentfully replies, "And I won't have an officer under my command, who doesn't have any.", as he throws the brass insignia into a draw, closes it, and takes another sip of whiskey. The admiral turns his back to his son and Apollo says, "I'll see you in court, admiral.", as he turns to leave the room.
